2017 Parkway Men’s Retreat
The weekend of April 7-9th, 12 men from Parkway Bible Church gathered at scenic, Greenland Gap Lodge for a weekend of worship, prayer, and fellowship. We spent the weekend being encouraged to grow in our fellowship with God and to draw near to Him. To know and be known by God was the theme that weaved throughout the entire weekend. Nate Smith, Parkway’s Pastoral Intern shared his testimony on Friday night about how God has worked in his life and how the Lord continues to grow and challenge him. Nate’s transparency and humility to share helped to set the tone for the weekend. Our guest speaker, Tim Granger, Executive Director of Ministry Alliance, spoke about intimacy with God. We discussed key foundational aspects of intimacy with God (belief, trust, love (affection for God) as well as the key effects of intimacy with God. Tim also led us through practical ways that we as followers of Christ could grow in intimacy. One of the blessings of the weekend was the opportunity to put these things into practice through personal devotions, through corporate times of prayer and through personal conversations with other men. Finally we enjoyed time together laughing and joking around the fireplace/fire pit, shooting, playing golf, hiking, playing games and enjoying the incredible surroundings of the lodge. It was a blessing to be a part of this weekend and I’m already looking forward to next year!
